Dig a tree for free In Doylestown

Posted by admin on Aug 9, 2010 under Gardening

Dig a tree for free In Doylestown We have free White Birches… http://www.digatree.com Highland Hill farm 215 651 8329 Our most Popular trees is the Green Giant… Hardiness: U.S.D.A. Zones 5–7
Development: In 1967, a single plant reputed to be Thuja (standishii x plicata)
was received from D.T. Poulsen, Kvistgaard, Denmark, and planted
at the U.S. National Arboretum. This plant exhibited exceptional
landscape quality and propagations were distributed. In the
distribution process, the name and identity of this clone became
confused with that of another arborvitae from the same source,
T. occidentalis ‘Giganteoides’. The identity of the exceptional clone
as the T. (standishii x plicata) hybrid was resolved by Susan Martin,
USNA, Kim Trip, New York Botanic Garden, and Robert Marquard,
Holden Arboretum, through extensive records searches, nursery
inspections, and isozyme analysis. The name Thuja ‘Green Giant’
was selected to identify and promote this clone.
Significance: ‘Green Giant’ is a vigorously growing, pyramidal evergreen with rich
green color that remains outstanding throughout hardiness range.
It has no serious pest or disease problems and has been widely
grown and tested in commercial nursery production. ‘Green Giant’ is
an excellent substitute for Leyland cypress.

Improve The Ambience Of Your Garden By Cultivating A Flower Bed

Posted by admin on Aug 8, 2010 under Gardening

Flowers are generally the star attraction of any kind of garden, and as such, flower beds, which are the marked areas for growing flowers need special attention.  The process of selecting the ideal space, apt designing of the beds, raising up the most suitable plants and giving constant care is called flower bed cultivation.  In reality, besides avoiding the attack of weeds, the flower beds also enhance the overall look of the sorroundings.

Flower beds usually are indispensable to just about any garden whether it is a formal one like the garden around Taj Mahal or one which is totally natural and informal.  You’ll find various kinds of flower beds like the seasonal ones for growing annuals and biennials like marigolds or ones which are permanent which has perennials like lupines, foxgloves etc.  Even the dullest panorama can be turned into a spot of beauty by the presence of these beautiful islands of color.

It is often a belief that making your flower bed is an easy process.  The structure really should go along with the overall design scheme of the garden.  A good water drainage is necessary for the bed since most of the garden plants except water plants would not be able to grow in boggy conditions.  The general designing have to be done in such a manner that it aids in easy removal of weeds, pests etc and allowing watering and fertilization easily.

It is very important to dig up the actual area very well prior to doing the actual work.  According to the need of the situation, you may add loose or packed soil so that the texture of the soil is improved.  You shouldn’t maintain your turf too hard or excessively loose.  It is possible to eliminate the weeds and their seeds from the turf by spraying herbicide.  Excavating and tilling are some other natural methods to remove these unpleasant surprises.  Following this, balanced growth of plants can be initiated by spreading a layer of compost on top of the bed.

Don’t ever forget about when you are planting perennials to dig down to at least two feet deep.  Edging may also be set up if you feel it necessary.  It is best to approach flower bed cultivation in a thorough manner since flower beds are easily noticeable in a garden.  Having sufficient information in this regard is not a problem these days with the availability of journals, experts and above all, the scientific marvel, the Internet.

Gardening Gloves – Keeping Your Hands Clean While Gardening!

Posted by admin on Aug 6, 2010 under Gardening

Even though the feeling of moist, warm dirt in your hands is one of good things that can happen during gardening, this will often lead to scraped, blistered and chapped skin. Gardening gloves is the only solution we can find to counter act this problem. The necessity of gardening gloves is directly proportional to the time that you spend in your garden. These gardening gloves will reduce your problems and will spare your some more time which can be spent in your garden.

There are lots of different gloves which are available in the market. The gardening glove that you need depends on the way you garden. There are gloves which are suited to serve specific purpose and cannot be used for others. Leather gloves cannot be used when we are working with water or chemicals. There are gloves which are used for gasoline refilling, pruning of thorns, or for using a chain saw and there are other gloves which are used for mundane works such are weeding, raking and digging.

Once you have made up your mind to buy a particular gardening glove, we need to pick a pair which perfectly fits us. If the gloves are way too small, they will cause cramps and aches; while if they are big they might slip off our hands. The whole purpose of wearing a glove is defeated if it does not fit us perfectly. One thing you can do to make sure that you have bought a glove that perfectly fits you, is to try it on and perform all the actions that we perform during gardening. If you feel that the glove comfortably fits you , then your work is done.

The qualities and the prices of the gloves that we buy may vary significantly based on the company manufacturing the gloves. Nearly all the gloves can be air dried after being washed in cold water. The different gloves available are cotton, cotton-polyester. The above mentioned gloves are very popular and are preferred when the chores to be done are light and the weather is dry and cool. Even though leather gloves satisfy the same needs, they are much heavier than cotton and cotton-polyester gloves. The main use of chemical resistant gloves is that they will protect our hands from oils , herbicides, acids, pesticides and other chemicals. Extra power for gripping can be provided in gloves by providing rubber dots.

If you fall under the category of people who wear gloves as a luxury for performing various tasks, there is a necessity for you to use gardening gloves which are specialized. The main need to wear gloves is that they protect our hands from different elements and they don’t cost much.
